This film is about a lady Tarzan (played by Femi Benussi) who loves to run around and show off her tits to chimpanzees and other animals. The producers of this trashy exploitation film gave her the imaginative name “Tarzana”, and her hobbies are riding on elephants and kissing lion cubs. She grows up in the jungle, talks with animals and shouts “Aaaa-eeee-aaahh!” like Johnny Weissmuller. Ken Clark (of the Agent 077 films) leads an expedition to find Tarzana, so that she can inherit a shit load of money from Sir Donovan. There is an overwhelming lack of plot and direction in this film. I mean, of course. But apart from Femi Benussi showing off her boobies a lot, this is a fairly innocent movie without all the dirty sex you’re hoping for. It almost feels like a family film.
Tarzana is a sleazy exploitation film that isn’t sleazy enough. There’s no action either. The only thing that happens in the film is that Tarzana plays with her pet chimp, and Ken Clark runs around with a rifle. That’s about it. There are, believe it or not, a couple of scenes that make the film worth watching though, like when a woman tries to explain to Tarzana that she is not an animal by enthusiastically tearing off her shirt (“Check these out!”) Tarzana is a pretty good role for Femi Benussi – and I didn’t really mind seeing the film, but I was a bit disappointed. I expected more sleazy fun out of a movie about a hot, topless jungle girl. It’s kinda dull and it probably would have been a helluva lot better if it had been made in the 70’s when jungle films were more daring. But it’s an okay 60’s T&A comedy if you’re into bad cinema and Femi Benussi films.
