Lots of boobies: WOMEN IN CELLBLOCK 9 review

More sleaze from the master! No one will ever confuse this or any Jess Franco movie with Casablanca, but you’ve got to love a film where the women are always naked! Women in Cellblock 9 is about a group of hot, female freedom fighters/nudists who are taken to a women’s prison in the jungle, and the badly dubbed guards decide to rape and torture them. Karine Gambier (who was in a bunch of Brigitte Lahaie movies) plays the leader of the freedom fighters. They love to show their boobies and eventually they try to escape naked through the jungle. The film was reportedly banned in several parts of the world because one of the lead actresses, Susan Hemmingway (Love Letters of a Portugese Nun), was just over 16 at the time the film was made. Anyway, it’s an entertaining women-in-prison film with tons of nudity and love making, so die-hard exploit fans will probably want to give it a look. The average film viewer will either be bored or offended, but if you’re a Franco fan it’s a must-see.
