Maybe the strangest Italo-Western ever made: MATALO! review

Matalo! (“Kill him!”) is about a gang (led by Corrado Pani) that robs a gold transport and hides in a small town. Everything seems to go according to plan. But then a mysterious stranger (Lou Castel) rides into town. The gang, who seem to be hippies by the way, give him a terrible beating. But he’s a bad dude (although he doesn’t look like one) and he returns to kill them all with… um… boomerangs. That’s right, he doesn’t need no chicken shit gun. Sounds a bit silly, but it’s actually very cool. The movie has a hypnotic and psychedelic tone – and although the electro-rock music sounds like it belongs in a different movie, I really enjoyed this one. It’s a weird and different experience that spaghetti lovers and fans of bizarre cult films should seek out.
