Gallery-worthy! Perhaps the world’s most bizarre movie posters

Welcome everyone to the weird and wonderful world of hand-painted movie posters. When VHS reached Ghana (West Africa) in the 80s, a bunch of mobile cinema operators started traveling from town to town with TVs and VCRs, and of course a couple of benches and chairs. Many rather interesting posters were then created for commercial purposes, and the artists took extreme creative liberties (the evil Cocker Spaniel on the CUJO poster is awesome). Director Walter Hill nailed it dead-on when he wrote, “To be brutally honest, many of these posters are more interesting than the films.” Below are 12 movie posters from Ghana. Enjoy.
